Now that we all have good weather, holidays and the days has plenty of hours of Sun, it is possible that some will feel attracted by the idea of enjoying a small walk without having to take the car.

The problem with our Urba is that it sits on a hill, and thus, trying to go up by Avenida España will result in a bit tiresome task. If you go down you will find yourself in the beach very quick. I have been enjoying this little route that tries to go as flat as possible, and leaving cars and houses behind for most of the time. If you leave La Siesta and go left up the road, continue past the junction and start the route by the little path next to the red house. It’s a little complicated to explain so I have drawn the path in a little map. It takes me up to an hour to do it and Google Maps assures its 3 kilometers – nice figure for a bit healthy walking to keep on shape!

If you, like me, bought a brand new TV recently, you might have pressed the DIGITAL button on your remote and had a black screen staring back at you. Well, this has changed now and we all have something to cellebrate: our friendly TV technician has installed today the components needed to see the TDT (Digital Television) and we now have a number beetween 18-30 new channels populating the digital spectrum.

As I write this I am watching Rounders (with John Turturro, Matt Damon and Edward Norton) on channel “La Sexta”. It has to be a nice movie, but unfortunately I cannot say for sure since the reception quality is far from good and I am experiencing continuos cuts and freezes. What a sloppy job!

The problem is, apparently, that our old antenna needs a second one to support the reception. Said antenna cannot be reached because it seems to be mounted on the terrace of a particular owner who is not a permanent resident and seems to be out in his home country. President Dionisio in collaboration with Fisem are now trying to reach him to see if we are granted access to the apartment to finish the installation. How long will this take? It’s hard to say, as you might have guessed, but hopefully the full installation can be accomplished as soon as possible.

But hey, meanwhile you are welcome to have a glimpse at the brand new quality that the Digital signal has to offer. The quality (at least on my Sony Bravia) is top-notch, very far from the noisy-blurred signal we have been enjoying until now.

If your TV does not have TDT included, you dont need to buy a new one: just head off to your favourite shop (Opencor, Urende, Carrefur, you say…) and buy one of those small TDT decoders. They are to be found for Euros 30-40. If you can read spanish there is more information available on the official TDT page.

Update: This morning, the TDT has been working flawlessly with zero corruption or image freezes. It seems that even without the additional receiver we will be enjoying periods of good reception. Nice!

It was one of the windows in the most hidden side of the building, out of everybody eyes. You can walk around that area by night and still not see anyone or anything one meter in front of you, let alone spotting some burglars committing their robbery from the adyacent buildings.

The thiefs managed to break the fence during the night, but it is unknown for us if they managed to take away any valuables or if they caused harm to the office belongings.

We hope this unfortunate experience will help the EUC to realize that the street lights in the area needs to be revised. Lets hope so!

A couple of days ago we had the visit of the technician who verified the reason for the failure and promptly fixed it. A good outcome aswell as it is not necessary to reprogram the remote controls again for those owners owning a garage parking place.

We are now waiting the technician to install a watertight box to avoid similar problems in the future. Our community is gated again!

PLEASE SHOWER BEFORE USING THE POOL

is absolutely invisible for the human eye. Evidence of it is the fact that the great majority of swimmers systematically ignores the hygienical advice and they simply carry on with their tasks of swimming and diving without first tasting the shower. From time to time we are lucky to have a socorrista that takes over with the tedious task of trying to teach the healthful habit, but as per today, those that shower before the bath are only a handful.

As many of you know, for some years now we have been receiving the visit of a kid from our neighbor Community Parque Paraiso. This kid is the Leader of a group of kids that, under his direction, falls in very unproper behaviour acting against the most common Security and Community rules. It is only in his presence that the kids lost completely control and behaves like a gang.

They are absolutely forbidden in their community to play football (since its dangerous for the little ones and the plants) and to get involved in “hard” games that includes yelling and disturbing the usual peace that we wish for our gardens. This might be the reason why they prefer our gardens and our swimming pool to carry on with such a games. They disobey the instructions of the “socorrista”, and they laugh of the reprimands of owners. In the rare ocasions where we have been lucky to have a rule-enforcer socorrist, the father of one of the kids has come with a violent behaviour. We have tried to sweet-talk them, to be polite, expeditive with no success. They just keep coming over and over again.

Today, the kids has take a Next Step in their behaviour. After playing football violently in the swimming pool the whole afternoon and laughing to the rest of the owners and tourists that are renting an apartment in our community, and even forcing everyone to abandon the water trying to escape their phenomenal kicks, they have been “invited” to leave La Siesta. This has apparently disgusted them, since the kids went in a Break-any-plant spree, pouring foam inside the post boxes of La Siesta.

Rest assured this situation will not be taken lightly. Our lifeguard has instructions to inmediately call the Security Company Cartman at 952 822 001 if the kids continues with their manners and wrong behaviour. This will have the benefit to succesfully settle a record of Incidents that we will be able to use in case that the vandalism goes any further.

Our current President, Dionisio Mérida, has been trying to explain the problem to said EUC office in an attempt to get their attention to it and install new light sources, but so far without success.

Of course we will keep you posted about future actions to shed some light on the problem.

Apparently, one of the pipes were placed incorrectly as it is made in a material that happens to be too rigid to handle the pressure of the terrain above it. The result has been yet another problem with the swimming pool loosing water some weeks ago.

The problem was quickly spoted by our gardener, Lazaro, who helped the pool lifeguard to manage a quick fix. The water was also refilled inmediately. Today, a proper, full solution, is being installed by replacing the faulty pipes entirely.

If we have to talk figures, the bigger water deposit has around 15.000 litres, and each of the four smaller ones around 3.000 litres more. That’s some 12.000 + 15.000, around 27.000 litres.

An access ramp is being built, it will go from the garden south of the swimming pool to the water deposits facility. A fence with a locked door will be built around the complex. Out of curiosity, the idea of pumping water from the undergrounds came when a problem in the pipes of water that the swimming pool uses destroyed an antire corner of the garden around it. The idea of taking chance of the unfortunate circunstance occurred to our President.

As mentioned above, it is expected that the amount pumped will be more than enough to water the entire community resulting in great savings to us owners.
